On November 15th, 2011, Sam was diagnosed with Lymphoma. More specifically, Non-Hodgkins's B-Cell Follicular Lymphoma. He is considered stage IV because he has infected lymph nodes throughout his body from his neck to his groin, as well as having Lymphoma in his bone marrow and spleen. While most doctors still consider FL to be incurable, there are a few that (with the newest research) are beginning to question whether that is really the case. Regardless, FL is a very slow moving Cancer that usually responds well to treatment. Sam will be starting treatment in February 2012 and we have high hopes that he will have a durable remission afterwards.
One of the main reasons for starting this blog is to keep all of you, the people who care about Sam and his family, informed of his treatment and progress. Sign up to receive email alerts when a new post has been published.
Alex,
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for this news but, as you said it responds well and he is young. He also has you and the rest of the family for support.
Love, prayers and really good thoughts going out to you all.
Carol
Thank you so much, Carol.
DeleteEvery thought, every prayer, and every person makes a difference! We have high hopes of fighting this disease for a really long time while we wait for a cure. He's a tough guy and I know that he can do it.
